Member Event: 12th Annual Ahwatukee Dog Show

Attention all Dog Lovers!! Join in on the canine fun at the 12th Annual Ahwatukee Dog Show at Ahwatukee Park, 4700 E. Warner Road, on Sunday, March 25 from 9 am – 12 noon sponsored by the Ahwatukee Community Swim & Tennis Center and Desert Dog Obedience of Ahwatukee.  Dog Show Categories are:  Best Dressed, Most Talkative, Cutest, Cutest Senior (7 and up), Cutest Rescue Dog, Best High Five, Best Kisser/Licker, Most Unusual (color and/or markings), and Best Tail Wag.  Ribbons awarded to 1st through 4th place.   Pre-registration cost is $7 per dog for one category and $3 for each additional category.   Registration cost the day of the show is $8 per dog for one category and $4 for each additional category.   On event day, registration begins at 8:30 am.  Admission is free for spectators.  Lots of shade, small play pools with water, and doggy waste bags will be available for the convenience of your canine companion.  But, dogs must be on a leash!  Canine Organizations such as Valley Dogs Rescue, Ahwatukee Commons Veterinary Hospital, University Animal Hospital, PETCO, 10 different Breed Clubs, and others will have representatives there to educate our community on their mission for a safer and happier pet community.    There will also be a raffle with some terrific prizes, dog vendors, demonstrations, and giveaways.  Proceeds from the raffle, and any other donations given that day will be presented to Leave No Paws Behind Rescue.   The Ahwatukee Farmers Market will also be attendance from 9 am – 1 pm.  So, come out and enjoy a great day with your pooch and help support these wonderful canine organizations.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas is partnering with Science Friday for a special screening of Breakthrough: Portraits of Women in Science.  This screening is at 5pm on Saturday, March 31st.
 
BREAKTHROUGH is a short film anthology from Science Friday and Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) that follows women working at the forefront of their fields.
 
Immediately following the film there will be a Q&A hosted by Danielle Dana, the Executive Director of Science Friday.  The Q&A will feature Dr. Karletta Chief, one of the women featured in the film.    You can view the full details here.
